DPA at EPAA Connect: Advancing the Conversation on Cross-Border Payments

16 July 2026 | Malaysia

DPA participated in EPAA Connect in Malaysia, joining central bankers, academics and industry leaders for a discussion on the future of cross-border payments.

The panel explored how regulation and innovation can work together to strengthen trust while supporting more efficient and inclusive payment systems. DPA highlighted the importance of proportionate and interoperable regulatory approaches, supported by ongoing engagement between regulators and industry.

The discussion also considered practical ways to reduce friction for businesses operating across markets. While full regulatory harmonisation may take time, greater alignment around minimum standards, mutual recognition and technology-enabled compliance can help make cross-border payments more accessible and efficient, particularly for SMEs.
