Startup Competitiveness and Digital Regulation in the AI Era
5 August 2026 | Seoul, South Korea
DPA, CODIT, Startup Alliance Korea and Korea Startup Forum brought together policymakers, startups, investors and ecosystem representatives in Seoul for a discussion on startup competitiveness and digital regulation in the AI era.
Grounded in the Oxford Economics study on digital regulation and South Korea’s startup ecosystem, the discussion examined how regulatory frameworks affect innovation, investment and the ability of startups to grow and expand globally.
Participants highlighted the challenges created by overlapping and frequently changing requirements, and the importance of regulation that is risk-based, proportionate, predictable and internationally aligned. The discussion also underscored the value of sustained industry participation in policymaking so that new rules reflect how startups operate in practice.
